I am the sum of my parts.

I am an only child.

 
I like to disagree with people just to get the conversation rolling (and I realize this sometimes annoys those I love).

I love to learn, would be a lifetime student if it paid my bills.

One of the best things I've ever done in life was adopt my dog.  She makes moves and vacations harder, but I wouldn't change it for the world.  5 years of laughter and tears, break-ups and moves, and 1000s of miles of car travel, she's made it all better.


I was born to amazing parents whom I likely don't thank enough.  But I am thankful.

Beyond just my parents, I am more blessed than I can express for my friends (past and present) and family.

Tip of the iceberg
Nothing upsets me more (read: pisses me off) than being told who/what I am, when I most certainly am not that thing.  If you don't know me or aren't paying attention... get off my lawn.

I crack myself up more than anyone else.  I am hilarious, people just don't know it yet.  

I like to swim, I like the bike...

 I LOVE to run.

I'll run with friends or by myself.  Sidewalks, paved trails, or dirt trails.  Running give my strength while making me feel weak, offers clarity in times of unrest, and has given me back far more than I have put in. 

At 18 I was sure I wanted to be a zoologist, at 21 a biologist, at 24 I had no freaking clue, at 27 I decided to finish a B.S. in Kinesiology (Sacramento State, 2011 graduate!), and now at 30 I am getting ready (and keeping my fingers crossed!) to go back to school to become a Registered Dietitian.  I want to be a part of people finding health and wellness.  I want help athletes push the limits of their body, and ultimately... I just find it interesting.  The Optimized Ashley Diet likely won't work as the Optimized Bob (or Mary, or Janice, or Nick) Diet... and helping people find their way through a barrage of often-times inconsistent, conflicting, and overwhelming amounts of information sounds like a pretty awesome gig to me.

About to be put through the paces of a VO2max test in Exercise Physiology.  This is the fun stuff people!
 I LOVE TRIATHLON.  As much as I love running, the combination of the three sports by far keeps me most happy, healthy, and injury free.  I am thankful for the small community I have tapped into and further humbled by the amazing triathlon community at large (who provide highly appreciated 1/2 naked triathlon eye candy) which seems to be more accepting and encouraging than any sport I have been a part of yet.  My race history is short, 1 sprint and 2 half ironmans, but I am forever changed by this sport.  And it will only get better.
